What is a Hindu temple like?
The Hindu Temple of Ottawa is a very welcoming space, please feel comfortable. We have been going to this temple for decades and watched it grow along side the local Indian community. Inderjit was an early supporter of the temple. He was very proud of his culture and would be happy that a larger community would gather here to celebrate his life. Look around and ask the dieties for health and happiness for your family!
What should I wear?
Elegant Summer casual. Dress in white or colourful clothes. Black and formal clothing should NOT be worn. Inderjit loved bold clothing! We all remember his signature silver silk vests!
Important, you will need to remove your shoes before entering the temple. Bare feet or socks are both acceptable.
Why are you calling it a Life Celebration and not a funeral?
Inderjit’s death is sad and we miss him. But he lived a long, healthy, prosperous and happy life. That should be celebrated. Hindu’s believe that death is a soul discarding its unneeded clothes. His soul completed this journey, it learned & grew, and is now off to its next journey. This too should be celebrated.
